Cranksgiving is a food drive on two wheels. It’s part bike ride, part food drive, and part scavenger hunt. The 2016 Cranksgiving ride will take place on Saturday, November 19!
Cranksgiving is one of our favorite holiday traditions! This food drive event originated in NYC in 1999, and we have been holding our own version of it here in Frederick since 2014.
DATE & TIME: 12:30PM – 3:00PM, SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 19
DESCRIPTION: Make your giving fun this year! Grab your friends and family and join us for a fun and challenging ride around Frederick! This isn’t your average stroll around town though… you’ll be scavenging food from various grocery stores while competing in the alphabet challenge to win some cool prizes! You’ll have to strategize because you can only collect a limited amount of items from each location. All food and donations go to the Frederick Community Action Agency. So come on out, join the fun and make Cranksgiving your new tradition!
DIFFICULTY: City riding through traffic.
TIPS: Assemble a team of friends and bring a bag, rack, child trailer, or some other way to transport food on your bike. Teams will ride to various grocery stores throughout Frederick and buy items to check off their game sheet. Teams with the most food items will win prizes! Be sure to bring a bike lock and about $20 to spend on food.
LOCATION: Meet up is at The Bicycle Escape (Park near the TBE van)
NOTE: If you’re a first timer on this ride, please drop us a note below if you have any questions.
